So today isn’t a design tip. And you have probably heard this tip a thousand times. But I’m going to give it to you again because we can ALL use it! It’s free and you can do it in 10 minutes.
Simply Declutter.
Start with one room and focus your 100% attention just on that room. Give yourself 10 minutes. Anyone else have little piles around the house that seem to have taken up permanent homes? (I’m raising both hands now!). Now is the time to actually LOOK at those little piles. In fact, look around the room with fresh eyes. What needs a new spot in the house? What do you never use anymore? What can be moved down to the basement for off-season storage? What can you donate, give to a neighbor, or even toss?
Pick 10 items. Put away . Donate. Toss. REPEAT.
I really like this post from Housemix Blog where she gives step-by-step instructions (including photos!) to decluttering your home, room-by-room. It even has a free printable checklist-love!
