Do the words “dust ruffle” conjur up the 80’s version of that fluffy thing found on your parents bed for anyone else? Maybe it even matched the stencil on the walls? My mom had Longaberger baskets on their walls (Sorry Mom…their bedroom is totally gorgeous today!) I’m trying out the words “bed skirt” to sound more modern, more 2016. Because bed skirts really are back in. It can hide those ugly bed legs, and gives you a chance to add some pattern to your bed. And same thing as yesterday on Day 7, this is a chance to use some expensive fabric you’ve had your eye on-a little goes a long way! So jump on the bandwagon with me: Bed skirts for 2016!
Here’s just a short list, but check out sites like Etsy for something homemade, or Pinterest for DIY tutorials. Below is the one on my bed. I paid a friend to sew one for me (one of these days I’m going to master my sewing machine!)
I’m continuing the 80s revival theme tomorrow (can you tell I’m a child of the 80s?!). Don’t believe me that stencils can be fabulous? Check out Day 9 tomorrow so I can prove you wrong!
