So if you read my blog from yesterday, I referenced the stencils from my childhood. My parents had baskets lining their bedroom, and I had the Laura Ashely blue bow pattern. Now as an 8 year old, I thought I had the most beautiful room in the word. I kept those until I was a preteen, then my room became aqua and purple. But you know what? I STILL used stencils! I made my own stencil and put the lyrics to Aerosmith songs above my bed. So I guess it’s deep in my blood.
If you lived through the 80’s too you are yelling at me now “Stencils?! Are you kidding me?!” I know….but erase your memories of country cuteness. Let me tell you, these are not the stencils you are reminiscing about! These are hot and modern, and….just plain cool. I’ve actually used stencils in my house twice already, which both gave results I love. It is about a 2 out of 10 on the craftiness scale. It is less expensive than wallpaper. And the patterns and colors are just about limitless. So my challenge to you…try a stencil! I would LOVE to see how your project turned out…share your stencil adorned project with me on Facebook or comment below!
Want to see some of my at-home stencil lovin’? Here is a shot of the hallway right outside my kid’s rooms. I did it all with one 12×12 stencil. It took about two naptimes and a couple of Diet Cokes.
I continued the trend into my girl’s shared room. This was a Pottery Barn stencil (no longer available). I took the turquoise wall color and added some white to it to make it a few shades lighter. It created a tone-on-tone pattern. All it took was one $5 stencil and paint I already owned!
I showed you mine, now show me yours! If you have any stencil successes, please share them on my page. In fact, if you have done any of the Challenges, I would L-O-V-E to see them! Share with me on Facebook or comment below!
