Gone are the days of the 35 throw pillows on your bed…and aren’t you glad?
I remember visiting a family member (who shall remain nameless) when I was little and seeing their perfectly coiffed master bed with no less than 12 pillows on it. I remember thinking….how long does it take to make their bed each morning? Maybe they don’t even sleep in their bed. Maybe she makes them both sleep on the floor every night because she doesn’t want to muss up their perfectly made up bed.
But in this day in age, we are BUSY, but you can make your bedding set beautiful but do-able as well. To start, I suggest only owning TWO sets of bedding. Have a back-up when it is laundry day. But, much more than that, you run out of room in your linen closet, and you always get “that” set of sheets on the botton of the pile that never gets used. Buy two sets that coordinate with each other in either color or style.
Sheets Quilt Lyrics Pillow Bedskirt
I love this bedding set because it is super neutral, but still has some personality to it. The sheets are a bargain from Target, and the quilt and shams are a traditional, netural pattern from Pottery Barn. The beskirt’s pleats are a classic, but it has a bit of a farmhouse twist to it being made out of burlap. But I always want to add a bit of my personality to a room-in my bedroom I have a monogrammed pillow. But I think this is even MORE fun…it is a custom pillow from Etsy where they use your favorite song lyrics or poem! Isn’t that romantic? Imagine putting your wedding song lyrics or a poem your hubby wrote you from your dating days…and create a pillow from it. It is from the Etsy shop FinchandCotter. Too cute.
Want a different look? No matter what your style, there is a simple equation you can use:
Sheets + Decorative Pillow Shams + One accent pillow (you heard me: One!) + duvet + bedskirt
*For bonus points, you can throw the optional quilt or bedding at the end of your bed!
Does it sound a bit like a math equation? Funny you should think that, because every Monday on FACEBOOKI I feature a different Designer Math Monday problem. Designer Math Mondays actually make math, well….fun! I’ve taken a break for DDMM in the month of March with the 30 Day Design Challenge, but it will be back in April! Check out this blog post I did a few weeks back on Designer Math Bed Sets:
