Desk Chair Pillow Cork Boards Free Printable Pencil Cup
I am so excited to be back for Designer Math Mondays! If this is your first time here, I’m a former biochemistry nerd turned interior designer, so I thought it would be fun to combine two of my loves:
pretty things + math = designer math mondays
So every Monday I make Math fun again and combine six different items to create a new space every week. We took a break during the 30 Day Design Challenge, and then I was sunning it up on a much needed beach vacation with the fam. But now we are back, and I’m in love with this pretty pastel kid’s desk area. Doesn’t it look good enough to eat? I love the spring colored pinks, mints, and yellows going on here.
And why spend a fortune on a child’s area? This entire area is only $182!
I started off with this neutral white desk, it is a classic and your child can keep it forever (it also looks easy to clean!), and it only costs $90 from Target:
And then you can start to really have fun…as you can tell, I took the girly girl version with this desk area, but you can easily swap it out to any color palette for a girl OR a boy. Target’s Pillowfort Collection is my new favorite thing E-V-E-R, I’ve been buying up their products for my own casa! So I chose this great metal chair in “aquamint”, but it comes in a rainbow of choices-let your kiddo pick their favorite color! And it is on sale right now for $43!
If you have been following me, you know every time I design a kid’s space, I always have to add some whimsy to it. So why not add a pineapple pillow? It is five bucks and I guarantee that it will be her favorite part of the whole area! I’m thinking a little homework buddy here…
These crazy adorable cloud cork boards from Land of Nod. I love the whimsy AND useability! You could also hang little love notes, or homework reminders, and you get 4 for $19! I think I would spring for two sets and have a little landscape right over the desk!
Who doen’t love FREE?! There are so many over-the-top creative people out there sharing their artwork for free. This is one of the millions of free printables out there, but I loved the pastel colors, and the simple phrase “Choose Joy”. Shouldn’t we all be reminded of that from time to time? You can frame it and put it on their desk or hang it right over the space:
And finally-just because it is practical doesn’t mean it can’t be pretty too! I love this simple little striped pencil cup (handmade!!) over at the Etsy Shop “Noemarin”. Each piece has a story behind it, and the pottery work is just beautiful. It is a little more costly at $25, but I think sometimes having a homemade touch makes all of the difference in a space:
So there you go-this is a mini homework or craft station that could fit almost anywhere in your home. It would be perfect to go inside of a bedroom, but it is so gosh darn pretty I wouldn’t mind it out in the open. I even think with a tweak here and there, it could be grown-up gorgeous as well! At $182 it is pretty AND practical.
Thanks for joining me for another Designer Math Monday! If this is your first time joining me, find the rest of them at my BLOG! And I share them on Facebook and now also over on Instagram every Monday morning. If you have any request for a Designer Math Monday room, just email me over at kristin@postboxdesigns.com, I always love to chat!
And the reason I was inspired to do a homework area for this Monday, is I’m in the middle of the One Room Challenge where I’m spending six weeks following Calling It Home, and transforming an oversized hallway into a homework station for my three little cuties, check out what I have so far:
I’m on Week #3, check it out this Thursday to see my latest progress!
See you next Monday,
