Confession time…the outside of my house is a hot mess right now.
With a chilly spring, I haven’t planted flowers, I haven’t cleaned up the yard, and our house is in desperate need of a paint job. But we are slowly working on it. Which spurred this idea of a simple front porch makeover. We recently switched out our old, dated double doors with a pretty new fiberglass version with sidelights that lets the sunlight pour in. And in just THREE WEEKS we are painting our house. We are going from a boring beige to a crisp white.
So I think I’ve been dragging my feet to do anything until the house gets painted. But I’ve come up with some ideas for a pretty, but simple, front porch makeover.
If I had $150 to spend this is how I would decorate a front porch…
Just click on the name of the object to take you right to the link:
Sconce: For just $32.97 this nickel beauty gives a charming coastal look, and since it is from Home Depot, you can have it installed this afternoon!
Door Mat: From my beloved Target, this $12.99 mat brings in a pop of color to the otherwise neutral color palette
Door Knocker: I have a thing for door knockers, although sadly I’ve never had one…they are like jewelry for a door. And at just $34.97 this is very affordable jewelry
Address Numbers: These nickel numbers pick up the finish of the sconce, and are just $4.78 each. Gorgeous. (Let’s assume you need three of these for our budget…)
The front door is a Jeld-Wen, but if you can paint your door, this is one of the best updates you can do. For a quart of paint you have a whole new door. I painted this one Benjamin Moore’s “Coventry Gray”. I found quarts of paint on sale for $10 this week.
DIY Planter: I adored this DIY planter idea from the girls at Classy Clutter. With some simple cement pavers, lumber, and a bit of stain, you have a beautiful custom flower planter. About $15 in materials it’s a steal
Grand Total: $120.27
And use the rest of the $150 budget on some flowers for that new planter!
