I can’t even believe July has snuck up on me! June was a whirlwind of summer camps, sports lessons, and traveling. In fact I just got back from an amazing girls-only weekend with my roomates from college. We are on our 12th annual reunion (so, when DID we get old?), and we celebrated by hanging out in Naples, FL! We did yoga paddleboarding just feet away from manatees, we took a friend’s boat out to Marco Island for the day where we found swarms of starfish, and the last night we did a sunset cruise over a bottle of wine and lots of memories. Don’t we sometimes all need to escape from the real world for just a few days and remember the feeling of freedom and fun? And a little bit of ocean wind in the hair didn’t hurt my spririts either.
This is the shot going back into the bay after our sunset tour…and yes, we even saw dolphins! So, can’t I just stay forever?
But now I’m back full force into the real world, but even so there is something about summer that just makes my job extra fun. Summer makes people want to decorate with bright colors and take some chances they may not in those dreary winter months. Or let’s bleach things out and go all white: it’s summer and you can do it! Look around your house and find one space you can brighten up and lighten up.
So for this Room Challenge, here are 5 Super Simple Decorating Ideas to Bring some Summer into your Home:
DECORATING IDEA #1: Decorate with Nature
I live in Michigan, so decorating with sand and shells seems pretty natural to me, but fill up these gorgeous sea-glass inspired jars with any treasure you find in your background. Pretty pebbles, sprigs of greens, or branches make for a super simple centerpiece. And I love FREE design.
DECORATING IDEA #2: Bring in summer with new artwork
Find something bright and fun with the oodles of free printables out there. But I love the simplicity of these beach inspired nature prints, and at just $15 each, you can update a nook for less than pizza out (and don’t even get me starting on the love of this shiplap…):
DECORATING TIP #3: Paint ONE thing a bright color
Okay, I get that not everyone can load up their home with turquoises and limes (but wouldn’t it be FUN?!), but try painting ONE item of your house a color you would want to name after an ice cream flavor. I love this pop of color of these dining room chairs, but also try a side chair, bedside table, even a lamp base.
DECORATING TIP #4: Add Stripes
Navy and white is the classical nautical combo, and it just makes we want to jump into my Sperrys and onto a sailboat! But try a red and white combo too for a crisp, summery look. You can try out a slipcover or a throw pillow for a low committment look this summer. Or try a gorgeous rug that you will love deep into the winter-I promise!
DECORATING TIP #5: Go White, White, White!
Lighten things up around your place and add some white to your life! Maybe try painting a piece of furniture (like in Tip #3!), grab a white slipcover, or cover up your walls with some crisp white paint. I love how they are rocking the stripes (Tip #4) in this rug…didn’t I tell you that you would love it?!
And to help celebrate the second month of the summer (that sounds very close to sounding like summer was halfway done-let’s not think of it like that….) I want to celebrate with y’all and offer this special deal JUST FOR THE MONTH OF JULY! Take $100 off any Postbox-any sized room, any package. Relax and put your feet up this summer…in your newly designed room!
