I’ll be honest, I really don’t like decorating for the holidays. Ironic, right? I love design and decorating, but the idea of ALL of that work to deck out the halls of my house…just to hear it down a few weeks later?
Let me tell you-Christmas decorations are a LOT more fun to put up than put away. When it is time to put them up, my fam gathers around for music and hot cocoa. Everyone is having a grand ole time. But where’s the help when it is time to put them away? In my house, it is mom doing it, on a Monday afternoon while the kids are in school. No music. No sugary drinks. Anyone else feeling me here? Let’s do something about that!
So by all means decorate that tree and hang those stockings…
But if you focus your decor on “winter” instead of “Christmas” you can keep out your decor for months instead of weeks!
These are the months where warm whites, metallic, and neutrals can shine. Nothing too flashy (like your neighbor’s glowing Santa display of last month). Instead, let’s get our homes feeling warm and cozy. Heat up some tea, wrap yourself in a blanket, and get some ideas to warm up your home for the wintery months to come.
Oh yeah, and the best part? If you are feeling some post-holiday cash ouchies:
Everything on this page can be done for $104.

The feather garland DIY project can be found over at Simplestylings.com and the Free Printable is from Remodelaholic.com! Both are really fun sites where you can get lost for hours on their great DIY project ideas!
Now THAT is the kind of make-over I like. Do you have any other winter decorating favorites? Let me know!
My greatest wishes for you and your family to have a wonderful Christmas filled with love and laughter! What are your plans? We are taking the kids on a trip to Chicago to enjoy the lights, hotel room service, tea at the American Girl Doll Store, and maybe some ice skating too…
