Hi guys! This week I’m here to keep you on trend. Color trend that is.
I’m a girly girl so I am drawn to the newest trends like flies on honey…especially when it comes to Home Décor (I’m usually a little late to the party when it comes to fashion, it took me awhile to come around to skinny jeans!). But the great thing is you can sample trends just a little at a time, since we can’t all makeover our rooms when the latest craze hits.
When it comes to color, Pantone is the expert on what is on trend, and this year they hit us with something bold:
The 2017 Pantone Color of the Year is “Greenery”
I’ll be the first to admit, I don’t have a lot of green in my home, so it isn’t the first color I go to. But the more I looked at it, the more I realized how groovy it is. Since it is a bold color, a little goes a long way-you only need a pop of it.
And in perfect timing, I was recently inspired by Douglas Elliman’s Florida Real Estate Team to create a Home Décor Mood Board that used this 2017 Pantone color to create an entire room (this is not a sponsored post BTW, I just think it is such a fun idea to see what all of these designers can come up with, so I wanted to join in the fun!)
Your home is a reflection of yourself, so…
So let’s make a statement!
You can use this with a lot of different décor styles, but my first thought was Boho Chic. It is a design style I have been doing A LOT of for clients lately. Boho draws in the elements of nature (and naturally GREEN works perfectly with that). But it has plenty of glam to it as well…and I’m thinking the hot metal trend of gold is going to pair up perfectly with Greenery.
So let’s get started! I created this “Greenery” Inspired Boho Chic Mood Board:

Fiddle Leaf Fig Sofa Mirror Succulent Coffee Table Pillow Artwork Rug
If you want to go ALL.THE.WAY this deep green velvet sofa (#2) is pure eye candy. I promise you, no one is ever going to forget this after they see it! If this is a bit too much green, sub this is with a modern leather sofa or sleek gray one, and you are still on par with this look.
The fiddle leaf fig (#1) is the HOTTEST plant on Pinterest right now. My clients have been clamoring for it-no matter your style, it is going to work in your home. You can go faux (I have three kids, I have enough things to keep alive right now) or real. To complete the look, house it in an oversized woven basket.
Since Greenery is so bold, I would recommend surrounding it but lots of neutrals. I added in some black and white elements, such as this graphic pillow (#6) and Aztec inspired rug (#8). I added polish and some glam with neutral metals like the modern gold mirror (#3) and iron from the coffee table (#5). I kept the room warm by some natural elements like the distressed wood on the coffee table and some “natural greenery” in the form of plants like this adorable succulent (#4). Create a simple vignette by grouping 3-5 of these together (they come in different pot styles).
And what about paint colors?
With such a rich color like Pantone’s Greenery, I would go light and neutral for those walls! Here are some to try:
Pantone “Snow White”
Pantone “Light Gray”
Still wanting to see more of this Boho Style? Recently I did two Postbox Designs projects for family of four. We warmed up her existing Family Room with this natural style. See the WHOLE story (and more pretty stuff!) right HERE
And like many homes today, her Kitchen with breakfast area was open to her room. So we continued the makeover into her eating nook with this modern meets Boho Chic style where I injected an infusion of natural “Greenery” into the space (check out the same succulents I found for today’s Mood Board here too):
