My #1 request from my clients is to create a Modern Farmhouse/Fixer Upper look for them. And I too am in love with this neutral, rustic style. So today I created this special Mood Board just for all of your Farmhouse lovers!
15 Pieces to Style a Farmhouse Family Room On a Budget
Quick side story here….I grew up watching Anne of Green Gables with my Mom and sister. If my Dad was out of town we would grab our bag of peanut butter M&Ms and pop in our VHS (how old do I feel right now?!) to binge watch our way through the series of charming Anne Shirley. So how thrilled was I when I came across the new spin-off on Netflix called “Anne with an E”?! And as I was watching I noticed how this humble little farmhouse belonging to the Cuthbert’s was the very definition of the Farmhouse Style we are all clamoring to have in 2017.
They served tea at the trestle style rustic table with shiplap walls and iron chandeliers. Wide plank distressed floors and neutral colors were the background of their every day life. Sound familiar? So if you too love the Fixer Upper Farmhouse Style, I’m going to show you how to re-create it in your home…on a budget. And check out that new series…I’m hooked!
So this month for my monthly feature over at Remodelaholic (the go-t0 experts for budget friendly home decor and DIY), I created an EXCLUSIVE Budget Friendly Farmhouse Family Room Mood Board just for their readers (and now you guys too!) With these 15 items you can infuse your room with some Fixer Upper style charm, and the best part is, it is all affordable. Yeeeees!!!
Farmhouse Style Decor Eye Candy
Before we get started, how much do you love this room by The Modest Farmhouse (via Instagram)?
It has all of the Farmhouse Style elements: rustic woods, shiplap walls, white sofa, sisal rug…they nailed it!
And if you like your Farmhouse Family Room with a bit less rustic and a more traditional, classic style, then this version by Veranda Interior is the perfect blend. The furniture is a bit more tailored and elegant, but the rustic beams and distressed coffee table add in that Farmhouse Decor charm (and I bet some of you out there could DIY the heck out of that coffee table!)
And no Farmhouse Family Room is complete without a wrought iron chandelier. Paired up with these gorgeous white sofas (with a white slipcover, yes YOU TOO can do white! I’ve had my white Pottery Barn slipcovered sofa for 10 years with 3 kids + 3 dogs!). (Image courtesy of Home Bunch)
And finally if you want to sneak a peek into MY house, here is my brand new reveal of my Budget Friendly Farmhouse Family Room! As part of the recent One Room Challenge six week makeover, I re-did my boring room full of hand-me downs into this Farmhouse style room where we can snuggle up and watch movies together. See all of the details (and a slew of additional photos!) right HERE!
But today I’m showing you a BRAND NEW Modern Farmhouse Mood Board…all of it is budget friendly. Use a couple of items with furniture you already have, or simply click and buy to re-create this whole room for yourself. My favorite piece has got to be that super fun buffalo plaid chair (which is a steal) OR maybe tied with that striped throw (that clocks in at just $20!)
