5 Day Design Challenge: Day #3
Laundry Room Makeover
If you missed the first two Design Challenges, check them out when you get a chance! Day #1 we made your bed the place you will never want to leave with 4 ITEMS TO UPDATE YOUR BEDDING (it’s going to look like a magazine with just these small changes). And Day #2 was HOW TO CREATE A MINI COMMAND CENTER. If you have a mere 24” of counter top space you can get your entire family more organized, which leaves more brain space for the fun stuff.
But first, I’m giving you some sneak peeks into a BRAND NEW product launch from Postbox Designs! I think you get every penny’s worth from my custom designed ROOM PACKAGES. But I know some of you need less help, or maybe custom design isn’t in your budget. No worry- I heard you!
I’m launching my “Choose Your Style” Pre-Designed Mood Boards. I hand selected an entire room of fixtures and furnishings of 25+ Items (or more). You will get two Mood Boards + a Digital Shopping List, all delivered directly to your inbox.
And to start I’m launching my first room in the series: The Family Room.
And it comes in three different styles: Farmhouse, Modern, and Boho Chic.
You can order every single item, or choose your favorites and fill in with some pieces of your own. This gives you a Complete Guide to decorating your room top-to-bottom. But at a fraction of the cost of custom interior design.
I’ll show you exactly where to find these on Day #5. But for today, back to the 5 Day Design Challenge:
Day #3 Mini Laundry Room Makeover
Three kids, a husband, a dog…I think I do about 10-12 loads of laundry per week. (And only about 10% of the clothes seem to be mine-how does that happen?!) And since none of us want to be a slave to our laundry rooms, let’s make it a bit more organized and beautiful today.
To celebrate Day #3 of the 5 Day Design Challenge I created a FREE Farmhouse Laundry Room Mood Board (+ Shopping List) just for y’all! I’ll also put it in my FREE RESOURCE LIBRARY so you can easily find it later.
Not signed up yet? No worries! You get free 24/7 access to my entire Free Resource Library but you’ll need a password to access it, get other freebies such as “10 Starter Pieces You Need for Your Home” here:
A Simple DIY Farmhouse Laundry Room Makeover:
I love this inspirational laundry room photo from Twelve on Main. She hit the nail on the head with the Farmhouse style that is as useable as beautiful. In fact I used it as my inspiration for this custom Mood Board I created for you guys! Copy the entire thing or just use an element or two from it. For Day #3 of the 5 Day Design Challenge, this is your freebie to use!

Subway Tile Table Furniture Leg Flooring Navy Paint Laundry Basket Butcher Block Cream Paint Sconces Cabinet Pull Shelf Baskets
In my own laundry room one of my biggest issues is piles of laundry baskets stacked up everywhere, and it’s hard to remember what is clean and what is dirty (confession time: sometimes I have to resort to the sniff test!). Instead, create this DIY, super simple folding/storage area. Use this amazing pre-made Ikea butcherblock (#6) paired up with these turned legs that are just $14/ea (#2) to create a simple DIY table. Underneath keep all of your laundry baskets. This adorable basket is from World Market (#5). Or if you are using the basic laundry basket, add a shelf to this DIY table to stack your baskets two high. Organize each basket by person, by color, or clean/dirty laundry.
To add some sparkle to your laundry room find one accent wall to add these super inexpensive subway tiles (just $0.22 each!). If you don’t feel like tiling, you can even find vinyl, removable subway tiles (check out my Mood Board below)!
Above your washer and dryer, adding a simple rustic shelf (#10) keeps necessities at hand (but out of the way of little ones). Use a pretty basket (#11) to house items such as dryer sheets and lint rollers. And if you need a little extra light in this area, I am in love with these farmhouse style sconces (#8), which not only clock in at just $45 each, but can be plugged into an outlet! No electrical work necessary!
Paint is one of the least expensive makeover tools in your belt. I love this combo of Benjamin Moore’s “Balboa Mist” (#7) for the walls (go for a “washable” finish!) and “Hale Navy” (#4) to paint your new DIY table.
Laundry Room floors needs to be durable, easy to clean (and I happen to like affordable as well!). This luxury plank vinyl (#3) is a perfect rustic farmhouse look and comes in at just $2.19/SF.
And finally if you are lucky enough to have some cabinet space in your laundry room, dress up any plain or inexpensive pre-fab cabinets with these lovely gold pulls (#9) to make an instant upgrade in about 60 seconds!
