Modern Neutral Living Room: Baby Steps Update
Hi friend! Thanks for stopping by Postbox Designs Interior E-Design
Around here, I exclusively do Online Interior Design, for amazingly fun clients all over the country. And while I have been an Interior Designer for over 15 years now, I have happily fallen into a niche. A niche where I blend the practical and the beautiful for every day families. I’m a huge believer in “Real Design for Real Life.” Rooms should be lived in, not just viewed, and that is how I go about designing.
And for today’s post, I wanted to share a style of designing that I do on a fairly often basis:
The Room Refresh
A lot of times my clients have one (or several pieces) of furniture they want to keep and we need to work around. In this Living Room, she had a great sectional sofa and office furniture to work around. So we refreshed the space with accessories and some supporting furniture pieces…for a whole new Living Room look!
Modern Neutral Living Room…All the Updates!
Like I mentioned before, my client had a sectional sofa she loved, but we gave it a whole new look with the magic of throw pillows (#12-15). And a new coffee table (#11) improved the whole function of the Living Room (a piece of furniture they removed when their kids were young). Like so many parents, she has had rugs that were ruined by her sweet little kiddos, so I found two budget friendly rug options (#2 and #3) for her-both from my fav source-RugsUSA.com
And the final piece of furniture this Living Room needed was a new TV console (#4 and #5 were the options I presented to her). Items #6-10 were all of the items I found to style up her pretty new console.
P.S. Not shown: With all of my client design packages I include a Shopping List that also includes step-by-step directions of how to place all of your items.
Modern Neutral Living Room + A Bonus: The Foyer
And like so many homes, her house didn’t have a dedicated Foyer. You walk directly into the front door….right into the Living Room. So while in a perfect world, we would all have a Mudroom or Formal Foyer, sometimes you have to make do with what you have!
I love using closed door storage (#2) for areas like this: they can stash kid shoes and accessories behind closed doors-and no one is the wiser. This white bowl (#7) functions as a place to corral keys, a phone, etc. This simple wood organizer ( #5) can work as a mini mail station, or even can hold desk supplies. And finally these great modern CB2 hooks (#8) can hold sweaters and jackets.
And all of the other items…they are there to make it look pretty. 🙂 Because walking into your home SHOUL make you smile!
