Desert Life: Desert Boho Living Room
Hello hello! If you are new here, I’m Kristin, owner of Postbox Designs Interior E-Design
Like many of you, I’m a busy Mama (of three kids and a kitty), so when I started PBD six years ago, I wanted to focus on creating beautiful designs that made it easy for YOU to simply click and buy. I give you everything you need to order your brand new room over a cup of coffee in an hour. And today I wanted to share the first of many rooms I am partnering up with this fabulous client to makeover her home. Today I want to share her Desert Boho Living Room design:
Desert Boho Living Room…What is it?
This client lives out in Colorado and wanted a house full of these rich deep terra cotta colors of browns, oranges, pinks, and ambers. Plus she wanted a modern sleek look layered on with plenty of graphic patterns. But always and most importantly-I want this room to function well for her family! Which meant performance grade fabrics for her little ones, and furniture her cats wouldn’t destroy (which was one of her requests).
I think the “desert” part of the “desert boho living room” is a mix of materials that you would found out west: terra cotta, clay, glazed vases, and cowboy inspired patterns, but we glammed it up with cozy linens and rich velvets.
A West Elm sofa in a rich taupe is also toddler friendly as are this pair of leather Lulu and Georgia wood and leather armchairs (leather is one of my fav go-to’s when durability is a must). Then we layered in this rattan entertainment console and a plethora of terra cotta toned throw pillows, all sourced from artists on Etsy.
But I think my favorite part of this Living Room design was this bold graphic area rug, also from Lulu and Georgia. I just spoke with a girlfriend who owns it herself and she said it is a dream and easy to clean (spoken by a mother of three-she knows her stuff!).
I love those these deep and warm tones all came together for a Living Room design that is modern yet cozy for family movie nights.
Desert Boho: Bring On the Decor
And like any space, we needed to layer on some decor to make this Desert Boho Living Room feel pulled together an complete! I actually sourced several of these fun vases and table top decor (such as items #10 and 11) from everyone’s favorite-Target. If you love this desert decor look, try their Opalhouse line…you’ll love it, I promise.
A mix of faux concrete and deeply stained wood side tables give a place to set a drink.
And this couple has a daughter, and I know from personal experience, that even if kiddos have an amazing playroom…they always want to be with US. So I recommended this rustic storage cabinet (#32) as a beautiful place to stash away not-so-beautiful kid toys and items. I found some desert inspired items such as this table lamp, original Etsy artwork, and candle and plant to style the top of the console.
