Hello Friends, it is another Monday, so let’s start the week off right with another:
I was talking to a friend recently and we were both commenting on how our bedrooms seem to be the last places we touch when it comes to design. Guilty as charged! We are so busy making our kid’s rooms look cute as little buttons, and we make sure our family rooms are comfy cozy. But the Master Bedroom? It seems to be an afterthought. But I say, Let’s Take Back the Bedroom! Let’s make OUR bedrooms a calm sanctuary, and place where you want to retreat to from the world.
No longer should your bed be scattered with laundry waiting to be folded! No more mis-matched sheet sets!
Let’s make our bedrooms pretty again.
So for this Designer Math Monday, let’s do a little additon with the parts of the bedding set. It’s a simple equation, just adapt to your favorite color scheme or pattern:
Headboard + Beautiful Quilt or Duvet + Fun Sheets + Throw Blanket + Decorative Pillow + Bedskirt = The Perfect Bedding Set
Again, you can use this simple equation and change up the details however you wish!
You can go all neutral: I adore an all white bed! Combine different layers of puffy, crisp white bedding. It is a classic: it never goes out of style. I seriously want to jump under that fuzzy throw.
I love this: keep it all neutral and throw in a pop of color. I adore this bedding-it is mostly tans and creams, but then they threw in a pop of that coral color. The great thing about this look, is it is easy to switch up. Need a new look? All you would have to do is switch out that accent lumber pillow, and you get a whole new look for just a few dollars.
Or you can go bold and crazy with color, you wild thing! If you are going to do a pattern, make sure to mix some solid colors with it, like these pink pillow shams. They also kept the curtains a neutral white sailcloth. Let that bedding shine!
Or recently, I did a more neutral look for my own Master Bedroom: I layered whites and grays, adding in different textures to give it depth. Because my look was fairly monochromatic, I added textures to keep it from getting boring. My white quilt has a subtle pattern and a pompom trim on it. The chunky cable knit throw adds some warm and cozy to the bed, and I kept the sheets a simple crisp white. I included two simple gray and white patterns: the striped duvet and the gray fretwork bedskirt. Anyone who knows me, knows I can’t resist a monogram, so I had our pillow embroidered with our initials.
