Happy Monday! Thanks for joining me for another Designer Math Lesson…this week’s lesson is on the Breakfast Nook!
Often times we spend more time and money decorating our fancy-pants dining rooms, even though it is the breakfast table we use on a daily basis. I know our breakfast table is where we not only eat our breakfast, but create playdough towers, and do the after school snack/homework combo! Despite the heavy use, this area usually gets the hand me-downs of past dining rooms. Even I’m guilty of this…until recently our walls were blank and we are using a 20 year old hand-me down table set. Check out the end of this post for my $90 update of my own nook.
Whether you are starting from scratch or doing a mini-update, here are some ideas for a whimsical room that mixes and matches cottage, traditional, and industrial styles.
Best yet, it starts at only $2.99!

After working on this Designer Math Lesson, I was motivated to give an extra spark to our breakfast room. I wanted something fun as this is a kid-centric area at our pad. Similar to the food art I used in the above Mood Board, I found these whimsical renderings of breads from around the world. They were part of a poster and I used Photoshop to separate them and framed each one. I found $3.99/ea black frames from Target. I used 18 to create a simple gallery wall. My husband jokingly calls it our “Wall of Gluten”. I love it, and it cost only $90. This includes the frames, and I did get the images professionally printed onto cardstock (although I’m sure you could print something off from home just fine as well!)
May this inspire you to enjoy your breakfast room, nook, or table that much more!
