I’ll be honest, Day 11 is 100% for me! I will be doing this challenge along with the rest of y’all! I don’t know about you, but the two places where my messes tend to pile up are 1: The walk-in closet and 2. My bedside table. Magazines, scraps of paper, empty wrappers from my chocolate binge the night before, a random Barbie doll from my girls… and do I really need 3 water glasses on my table? But at the end of the day when I finally pull my covers up, cleaning up my bedside table is the last thing I want to do.
So just like on Day 3, let’s start by decluttering. So, step one is to clear it all off! For most people, I would just put back the basics:
Wood Cube Clock Gold Tray (discontinued) Heart Dish Lamp (different from one shown)
Need an actual bedside table? Bonus points for this Target one having a shelf AND a drawer!
Here are the basics you need to get you started:
- Lamp
- Tray or basket for magazines, papers, books, etc. If your table is large you can pop it on top with everything else. My tables are smaller but have a lower shelf, this is where I’ll keep mine.
- Small dish to corral all of your “littles” like reading glasses, wedding ring, or in my case, my mini Milky Way bars.
- A decorative clock. I know, so old school right? I know, your IPhone is your alarm clock too, right? Same here. But every study I’ve read tells me to keep my phone outta my room at night. No midnight Pinning or first AM Facebook check-ins. Let’s go retro…besides these are a lot prettier, no matter what your phone case looks like.
- Anything else that you use on a regular basis, find a spot for. I know some people keep a journal by their bed, that’s cool. Make it a pretty one and find a spot where you put it back each time. No more random scraps of paper scattered around, ok guys?
I was talking with a girlfriend recently and what she said was true: we usually leave our OWN bedrooms last on our decorating to do list. Maybe it is because we don’t spend as much time in our bedrooms than other spaces in our homes. Or maybe we just tend to put ourselves last. Lately I took up the challenge myself to give my own bedroom a mini makeover. I treated myself just like any other Postbox client and created all of the drawings I would for you! If you need some help with YOUR bedroom, email me at kristin@postboxdesigns.com and I can walk you through the process. I would love to work with you!
I’m excited about tomorrow’s Challenge, I’ll give you a hint…we are moving on to the bathroom!
