Anyone else need some better dog decor ideas?!
We have a new baby in the family. A puffy fluffy black Labradoodle pup who recently turned one year old. We named him Jasper in honor of the town where my hubby and I first met. We met in the tiny town of Jasper, Georgia both there for the summer volunteering at a camp. It took awhile to finalize his name….we did let the kids make their own lists of potential names. And we even read the lists out loud and voted as a family. Don’t worry, we heavily swayed the kiddos before the final vote. Thank goodness because the runner up was Snuggles (no offense to all of the “Snuggles” out there!). We might have named him Jasper, but he is affectionately known as “The Beast” around our place. As you can see from the photo why he may have attained this name. His paws may be as big as my children’s face, but he is all snuggles and love.
It has been over five years since we had a dog in the house, so I’m readjusting to everything we need for The Beast. Storage for dog food, leashes, bowls, grooming supplies…Sure, we can throw out a dog bed and a couple of bowls, and he would be fine. But there are so many great pet ideas out there, why not dream a little? Jasper even has his own board on my Pinterest page, check it out Jasper’s Place HERE!
Need some dog decor ideas that will blend into your home instead of being an eyesore? Here are some of my favs:
Our sweet dogs are always underfoot, you might as well give them some designer space in the most popular room in the house. There are some creative ways to hide those food bowls, even creating a “station” where you can keep your pet supplies in one location.
At our house, Jasper has his own locker, so everything stays behind closed doors. When we created our mudroom we made sure to give him his own locker. His is closest to our door and full of his gear. Usually that basket is replaced with his food and water bowls. Okay, I know that sounds nutty that I gave my dog his own locker. Let’s be honest, it’s more for me…that 50 lb Costco bag of dog food needed to go somewhere…
Okay and how about those dog beds? They don’t have to be an eye sore any longer. Check out these cool designer dog beds that you will WANT to keep out:
Wanting to put your DIY skills to use? Here are some ways to make a potential eye sore part of the décor with a little bit of craftiness:
And if you are REALLY into your pets, why not dedicate an entire room to them? These mudrooms are a pet lovers paradise. Pet showers, custom built-in dog beds, feeding stations?! These are some pampered pooches.
But my personal fav? A poochy portrait. I think it adds a little humor to a home. I better start on one for The Beast…
