People get it when I tell that I’m an Interior Designer, but they always have more questions when I tell them I specialize in E-Interior Design. The idea of getting their custom designed room delivered to them in a box is such a unique idea most people have no idea what actually comes inside their Postbox! So today I’m giving you a sneak peek of what comes inside a Real Postbox!
But first…why E-Design?
It save you time (no more meeting your designer all over town)
It saves you money (no designer mark-up)
You never have to leave home (I mail your Postbox right to you)
I design for any budget any style…all at one fixed price
This is a REAL client, and a REAL design I created just for them.
For this client, they requested a clean-lined, modern living room that works with their family of four. They also had a tricky (but common!) problem of not knowing how to arrange their furniture…their fireplace and TV were competing focal points PLUS they had very little wall space for actual furniture. They weren’t sure how to set up their room, much less what to furnish it with. So how does a Postbox solve their problem?
POSTBOX PIECE #1: THE MOOD BOARD
A Mood Board contains all of the fixtures and furnishings for your room on one (or two) pages. It helps you visualize what the room will look like AND how everything blends together. It it really difficult to look at different pieces of furniture in different stores and figure out if they will all go together. And NO ONE wants to buy furniture from all around town, then return it when it doesn’t work.
POSTBOX DESIGNS PIECE #2: THE BONUS PROJECT
With each Postbox, I add a Bonus Project or small DIY project that helps put your space over the top. This Living Room currently didn’t have any ceiling light fixtures (which was a problem for them), so I gave them the Bonus Idea of adding this Edison-style chandelier to the middle of their room. Their room will work fine without it, but this will give the space an extra dose of drama!
And this is Page #2 of the Mood Board, that focuses on all of the extra small items that will pull the room together, such as this gold floor lamp, geometric curtains, and fun storage bins for all of the extra “stuff” that comes with kiddos.
POSTBOX PIECE #3: THE 3D PERSPECTIVE
Mood Boards are awesome for visualizing how everything will work together. But nothing can beat a 3D Perspective: it shows the clients what their room will look like virtually before having to buy a single item! Most people have a hard time visualizing their new room (otherwise they wouldn’t have a need for an interior designer), but this takes care of that problem!
POSTBOX PIECE #4: TIPS & TUTORIALS
Almost every project has an area that needs a little extra explaining. And we all know a picture is worth a thousand words. For their Gallery Wall I laid out the whole wall for them (and included links to all of the frames and sizes on their Shopping List), and even gave them ideas of what to put in their frames (like this great customized Roman Numeral Print starting at just $10!)
POSTBOX PIECE #5: THE SHOPPING LIST (NOT SHOWN)
For every Postbox I include a custom Shopping List that has every single item on it! Listed are the prices, colors, and sizes, along with any discounts my clients can get on that product. They get a copy inside their Postbox, but they also get a digital copy emailed, so they can literally click and buy in minutes!
You can order your entire room in under an hour, over a cup of coffee.
POSTBOX PIECE #6: THE FLOOR PLAN
For every client I draw up their entire room on my design software and produce a to-scale floor plan for them. I place all of their furnishings on their floor plan so they can see their new layout. I also include special notes on it!
POSTBOX PIECE #7: STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS
Included in each Postbox are step-by-step instructions on everything from how to put together their vignettes, how to create a Gallery wall, or the best way to hang their artwork. I also include extra information like why I chose each item for them based on their lifestyle and their Design Questionnaire. I want my clients to feel comfortable that each piece will work for them!
POSTBOX PIECE #8: SAMPLES
I also include any applicable samples I can for a space! While this photo is showing a different project, for this Living Room I included multiple fabric samples for their sofa, wall paint colors, and new flooring samples (they wanted to update from carpet to a dark wood floor). This helps bring your choices to life, and let’s you see the actual material in YOUR home before ordering your furnishings.
So there you go! Each Postbox is chock full of all of the drawings, instructions, and samples you will need to pull your room together! I do all of the legwork for you, and give you a complete Guide to create your room. The beauty of E-Interior Design is it saves you money and time because you don’t have to meet your designer all over town to look at all of your items.
Furthermore, since YOU buy your products, you save my markup, and you can buy as your budget allows. You can buy everything all at once. Or, use your Postbox as a Master Plan and buy items one-by-one as your budget allows. And I’m always available to answer any questions you might have or walk you through the process if you need aid.
The best part…you never have to leave your home. Your beautiful Postbox is mailed right to you. Then you can order everything online and let those boxes come right to your door!
I would absolutely love to help you design your dream room. Find out more about how the process works HERE or see other Real Postbox Projects HERE. You can email me to get started or just ask me your burning design questions!

Nice list. I lile your home decorations tips and ideas. I’ve always loved the idea of a neutral room and adding pops of color with the art work and accessories. Easiest and most economical way to change a room and make it look fabulous and inviting.

Thanks so much! I agree…it’s so much easier to change out the small things for a whole new look if you keep the big pieces neutral! Glad you found Postbox Designs 🙂
