Farmhouse Kid’s Playroom Design: Part I
How to Design a Kid’s Playroom
Did you know that my #1 design request for Postbox Designs is for kid’s Playroom Designs? And I couldn’t be more thrilled…kids space are so much fun. You get to take risks, have fun, and get to use all of those whimsical items you can’t use anywhere else. Today I’m going to share a recent Playroom Makeover Part I that I created for a Mom of four in Texas. She wanted to fit in a Playroom-Craft Room-Homework-Station all into one space. We did it, and I can show you how to do it too.
Farmhouse Kid’s Playroom Ideas
This Playroom is for four kids so it had to fit in a lot of function into one space. I started with a space-saving triple desk idea. Using this Ikea wood top (#7) and metal legs (#10) creates a simple and inexpensive desk with enough room for 3 stools (#4). These backless stools take up little floor plan space and can be pushed under the table when not in use.
My client used this image (#5) from Fixer Upper as an inspiration of what she wanted her new Playroom design to look like. So I used some of the same elements in her space to mimic the look. And if you want a Farmhouse look in your Playroom, you can use the same elements:
-Round metal stools
-Rustic tabletop
-Black and white floor (I used this plaid rug)
-Rustic metal pendant
-Vintage alphabet print
-Vintage math card wall art
Further keeping with a strict white, black, and wood toned color scheme also works with this Farmhouse design.
Kid’s Playroom Ideas: Craft Table, Reading Nook, Homework Station, TV Area
Yep, we fit all of those areas into this little room. I don’t always show the Floor Plans for my client projects, but since we were putting in so many different functions into this Playroom design, I wanted to show you how we fit it all into a 15 ‘x 9’-6″ room.
Playroom Design Trick: Use Your Vertical Space
You can use this trick in any room, but it works perfectly in this Farmhouse Playroom design. Use your vertical wall space to stack several book ledges, like these clear acrylic ones (#22) and keep the books out on display. Then add some comfy chairs or beanbags under it.
Wall Art + Book Storage=Bingo.
