2 Home Office Design Ideas for the Ladies
These days a lot more of us are working from home, and so it is no wonder that my #1 client design requests have been for Home Office designs! And while I’ve been doing Online Interior Design exclusively for the last 5 years, it has worked out perfectly lately for all of my clients!
Everyone is at home more, and we can’t always meet in person, so it is a joy that I get to work with even more clients virtually these days from my own Home Office in Michigan. And today I wanted to share two different Home Office designs I created for two different amazing clients:
Project #1: Zoom Worthy Home Office Design
I loved working with this client! She came to me with an inspirational image (#1) and wanted to create something similar, but with her own vibe. She does a lot of Zoom calls, so specifically she wanted a beautiful background for all of her professional calls.
So I helped her create this mix of glam and farmhouse with all shades of white, blue, woods, and golds:
We started with a white Pottery Barn desk, and then we placed this glam white/gold buffet style storage piece directly behind it. This storage piece will hold a lot of office supplies, but when layered with some beautiful artwork over it, this will become part of the background when she is on Zoom.
She also had room for a sofa, where she can relax or hang with her daughter when taking work breaks. This modern gray sofa is layered with beautiful, feminine throw pillows in golds, blues, and pinks. But my favorite piece is probably this gold globe chandelier that pulls everything together.
And why put a bunch of mismatched office supplies into a beautiful new office? So we finished it off with marble and gold desk accessories, the perfect finishing touch for the feminine Home Office design.
And if you are working from home more these days? Make sure you have a place for your pet, if you have one, they bring us a lot of joy, so make sure they feel welcome in your space too!
Project #1: Office Design #2:
Professional Meets Feminine
While technically this isn’t a Home Office…it could be! I’ve worked with this amazing client on multiple rooms on her personal home, so I was really happy when she reached out for help with her own work office. As a lawyer, she wanted a mix of professional but with a touch of feminine in her space.
One of her big requests was a sofa that could do multiple duties. She needed a soft furniture area where she can meet with clients and fellow partners, and she can take a quick break on this sofa after a long day. So I anchored the space with this channel velvet sofa and a pair of these wingback armchairs. This abstract painting brings in all of the colors from this office design: blues, grays, golds, and creams.
But my personal favorite is this mix of throw pillows: velvets, fawn print, and stripes-just a touch of feminine, and they are easy for her to change out for a new look in the future if needed.
This marble and metal coffee table anchors the soft living space, and I found some fun elements to style her space, similar to image #19: resin boxes, footed bowls for plants, and this fun marble/gold decor object. I used these white & gold table lamps in my own bedroom, and love them so much, I used them in this space (a fun Target find of all places!). A Persian style rug gives a traditional feel, while the more modern pillows mix it up a bit.
She did want to keep her existing desk and storage pieces, which were a dark, rich wood, so we wanted to be sure that all of her new pieces worked well with what she had. I often have potential clients ask me this, and YES, I absolutely can work with your existing pieces you would like to keep.
Another function she needed for her Office design was a small table with four chairs as a meeting space. These gold and velvet chairs add a bit of feminine flair, while still giving her a really functional office space.
And finally, some fun gold lamps and more bold artwork finish off her desk area.
More Home Office Design Ideas
Whether you are working from home, or back in the office, now is the time a lot of us are realizing we really need to love the spaces where we work! Here is another Home Office design where you can grab a few more ideas for your own Home Office. And this one is for the gentlemen…
Masculine Home Office Design
This was a re-do on a husband’s home office, where he wanted to bring in his sports collection and she wanted something to work with the rest of the home. See how we combined both of their needs into this masculine home office design!
And I also included an alternative set of desk + rug + armchair options that could work in his (or any) Home Office:
