Budget Modern Farmhouse Living Room Makeover
Hi Friends! Welcome back to Postbox Designs! I started Postbox Designs just over two years ago because I realized that so many of my interior design clients were just like me-busy women who never really had enough hours to tackle their To Do List…much less get to the fun stuff like interior design. In the old days my clients and I would spend the day(s) all over town picking out items, then going back to my office to review and redesign.
Instead everything I do is now Online Interior Design. I custom design my clients room for one low, flat fee then create all of the drawings, Shopping Lists, instructions, and even material samples so they can re-create their room easily at home. They can do everything from home on their budget and their time frame. They can order all of their items at once or use it as a Master Plan and buy items one-by-one as their budget allows.
My clients can order their entire room in a hour…without leaving home.
And because Interior E-Design is so much more efficient I get to charge (a whole lot) less, AND I get the honor of working with clients all over the country. However, with today’s Living Room Makeover I got to work with a client in my very own hometown in Michigan! And I think you are going to loooove her project!
Budget Friendly Farmhouse Living Room Design
This sweetie pie client and mama to young kids actually needed a Living Room Makeover in her basement! They were at the beginning stages of finishing off the basement for extra playroom and TV watching. She needed durable, budget-friendly items for her young family that would be uber comfortable for movie nights. Plus she loved the look of the Modern Farmhouse design style. I’m going to share Part I and Part II (coming later this week). I always do two mix-and-match designs for all of my clients and today I’m sharing Version #1!
Kid Friendly Living Room Furniture
When I think kid friendly AND comfortable my first thought goes to a leather sofa. It works perfect with the Modern Farmhouse style and is a breeze to clean. In fact this image from Studio McGee (Item #4) was one of the inspirational photos I worked from to create her Farmhouse Living Room. The budget friendly leather sofa is anchored by these modern gray Target armchairs and this light colored boho rug (also an affordable snag from Rugs USA). These buffalo plaid poufs (does it get any cuter than these??) work for extra, moveable seating.
Finish it off with these affordable Farmhouse pillows from Etsy and rustic Target coffee table….there is nothing Mama will cry over if one of her kiddos ruins it. Then I layered in inexpensive accessories like this faux fiddle fig tree from World Market, woven baskets, and cement planter to bring some greenery into a basement space.
More Modern Farmhouse Style Touches
Toy storage is always a huge issue with kid spaces, so I found these cute but practical tall storage tower, and suggested flanking it with these farmhouse word art signs. Woven Target baskets can hide toys or she can leave some of the cubbies open for books and larger toys. Inexpensive Etsy Instant Download artwork (Item #14) can be used throughout the room for a modern touch on the Modern Farmhouse style. Luxury Vinyl flooring completes the durable but warm look. And because she only had one small window in her basement Living Room I suggested painting the whole space this bright and airy white. It gives a crisp look and everything will pop against it.
Finally two of the items in any Living Room that takes the most abuse are the coffee and accent tables. The coffee table (above) was an inexpensive Target find with a rustic top: i.e. already broken in! The white, modern side tables are also a Target find-they are a light weight metal that will be durable and easy to wipe down with the kids!
