Boho Home Office Makeover: Part II
Welcome back to Part II of this Boho Home Office Makeover! I recently paired up with Peg, the voice behind The Honest Mom to help her create her Ultimate She Shed in Grand Rapids, Michigan. This work-from-home-mom needed a space to call her own in a house of all boys! So she wanted a space that was girly, bold, and all her own style. But like a typical Mom, she is a multi-tasker.
Her She Shed had to incorporate a Home Office, a Guest Bedroom, AND a Laundry Room…all into a small footprint. Not only did we fit it all in, but this multi-tasking room is just oozing with Boho style.
If you missed it, I’ll hang out right here while you check out Home Office Makeover Part I.

The Big Reveal: Boho Home Office + Guest Bedroom Make-over Part II
And without further ado…part II of this Boho Home Office Makeover! Like I mentioned above, my client Peg wanted to also fit in a Guest Bedroom into her She Shed space. And the perfect solution when you only need a part-time Guest Bedroom?
A day bed.
This day bed can do double duty. For the majority of the time Peg can use it as a space to lounge and work with her laptop, or use it as extra seating. But when they have extra guests, this daybed is also set up to work as a guest bed.
Here is her day bed styled for the day:
Then remove the pillows and it is styled for a guest bedroom at night.
For even MORE storage, this day bed has open legs, so she can fit under-the-bed storage containers under the bed as well. This bright yellow velvety quilt paired with the boho green print sheets fits into the rest of her Boho Home Office.
Then we purposefully added this sweet little rattan side table next to the day bed. When guests are over, this can double as their nightstand with a reading light.
And that great boho wall hanging? It is actually an uber budget friendly RUG that made for the perfect oversized wall art. And the other piece of art is an otomi print from Etsy. It was a digital download for just a few dollars that Peg blew up to this 24″x36″ size with her local One Hour Photo. She ordered it in the morning and had instant art an hour later-perfect for any busy mama.
Boho Decor Details That Make The Room
Remember in Part I where I said that EVERY Boho space needs greenery? Peg already had this sweet faux plant in a pompom basket that we snuck in beside the bedside rattan table.
And I couldn’t stop laughing when Peg (a Mom of two boys) showed me this book she wanted to incorporate into the space: “Remarkably Average Parenting”. OMG. She was kind enough to even gift me with my very own copy (which my three kids were slightly confused by, but fully enamored as well). And it is now sitting on MY coffee table!
Boho Home Office + Guest Bedroom: How to Make it Work
The great thing about the Boho style is you can be pretty eclectic and design rules are loose. We mixed a lot of different colors, patterns, and textures. To make it all work without looking too busy, I suggested keeping the walls a pure white to give a sense of calm, while allowing all of these bright items to really shine. Also, look for ways to repeat the same colors throughout the room for a more cohesive look. These black-and-white pattern, as well as the pops of red, yellows, and greens are repeated throughout the whole space.
Another way to make this small space feel less cluttered was to find a couple of large wall decor items for her walls. Instead of tons of smaller items cluttering up her walls, we focused on her large otomi print and this woven rattan wall hanging (which is actually a rug!).
And one more shot of her day bed turned out for a comfy guest bedroom. Or I bet the spot where her two boys will be fighting to cuddle in.
