Welcome to Postbox Designs, E-Design, I’m Kristin! I’ve been an Interior Designer for 14 years, and doing Interior E-Design for the last five years. I love working with my E-Design clients because I can work around their schedule and give them a design they can pull together right away… or over time as their budget and schedule allows. For each of my clients, I create a Master Plan with everything they need to pull together their entire room. I create all of their drawings, material samples, and a clickable Shopping List.
Then, they can purchase their entire room in an hour…over a cup of coffee.
And today I want to share one of those projects with you! The cool air is here, the cozy sweaters are coming out, and pumpkin flavored coffees are being served. And with this cozy fall weather coming, I thought it was the perfect time to share this recent mountain Vacation Home makeover! Today I’m sharing this rustic neutral Living Room design, as part of a brand new home build. This Vacation Home will work for my client and her extended family, but they will also be renting it out. So she needed designs that would work with their cozy mountain town feel, and be durable enough for plenty of use.

Neutral & Rustic Living Room Design Ideas
This large Living Room is going to be the heart of this mountain Vacation Home. My client already had her main furniture pieces (such as these cozy leather sofas (#8), round coffee table (#3), rustic side tables (#4) and swivel armchairs (#2)). She reached out for help for all of the finishing touches for her Living Room Design.
So I helped her finish off this cozy room with a deep blue rug (#5) and throw pillows to add texture and pattern to this space (#12-16). I also suggested coffee table decor similar to this inspirational image (#9) using shed antlers she already owned, a wood tray (#6) and rustic metal Crate and Barrel vases (#9).
Rustic Living Room Accessories
Another thing my client asked for help with was decorating the open shelves on either side of her two story fireplace. I helped her find a mix of neutral and rustic pieces to help bring her space to life, all shown on the below Mood Board.
One of my favorite things to do is to help bring in sentimental ideas into my client’s space. Items like the homeowner’s antique shoe shoes (#27), a Pottery Barn fly fishing print (#23), which is one of the husband’s interests. I also found this custom map (#21) that she can order of her vacation home’s town. Item #22 is a vintage map of the mountain town that they can frame and hang on their shelves.
And as a final touch, I found Etsy nature prints (#25 and #26) to decorate some of her blank walls. And woven baskets (#24) can house books, board games, or even stray items like remote controls.
