Which Bedroom Design are You?
Hi friend, welcome to Postbox Designs, Interior E-Design! I’m Kristin-If you are new here, I’m a Mama to three, I’m a sugar junkie (so my kid’s Halloween candy MIGHT have been my lunch today….), and I’ve been an Interior Designer for about 14 years now. About five years ago I decided to work exclusively with Online Interior Design because I love the flexibility it gives my clients. And it lets me work with the most amazing clients all over the country….from my Home Office here in Michigan! And today I want to share a recent Guest Bedroom Design I worked on.
But it made me think…our bedrooms should be a reflection of our personality. Does your bedroom actually reflect who you are? Or is it just a dump spot for clean laundry and a midnight snack?
So today I’m sharing 4 Different Bedroom Design Makeover with you…which one are you?
Bedroom Design #1: Traditional & Elegant Bedroom
My sweet client reached out to me with help finishing off her Guest Bedroom. Like with all of my clients, I had her fill out a Budget & Design Questionnaire, send some photos, and share a Pinterest board with me. Her Pinterest board was filled with gorgeous, traditional rooms with a tan, black, gold, and cream color palette. So this is the design I came up with for her:
For her bedroom design: we kept her neutral bedding, and instead layered on traditional and elegant artwork, fun ceiling light, and nightstand and dresser decor. Traditional Pottery Barn furniture served as a beautiful, classic foundation for adding in these details. For artwork we went with a bold Minted print (#2) paired up with some figure sketch style prints from Etsy (#4).
Bedroom Design #2: Glam & Sophisticated Bedroom
I designed this glam Bedroom design for a New Jersey Mom-she is a working mama and she wanted a bedroom retreat that could be all about her. She wanted an elegant space with some major glam factor. We also added in a coffee/wine bar and a seating area. If I was her….I may never come out again.
5 Steps to a Glam Bedroom Retreat
For a glam Bedroom design, add in pops of metals such as polished golds and nickels, and you can add in metallic and shimmery materials. But stay away with too much bling like sequins or overly sparkly materials so it stays glam and less “tween”. Clean modern lines also help balance out more feminine items.
Bedroom Design #3: Modern Farmhouse Bedroom
If you love the classic Modern Farmhouse design, you might be a little more casual and laid back. This style pulls in comfy materials and it is okay for things to be a little wrinkled or distressed-it adds to the character!
Modern Farmhouse Bedroom (Plus Dining Room & Living Room)
For the Modern Farmhouse Bedroom, you will want to stick with a pretty neutral color palette: whites, creams, grays, tans, and pops of navy work really well. “Farmhouse” elements like stripes, word art, and rustic metals are balanced out with more “Modern” elements. I mixed in some more clean lined pieces (like items #5 and #6) with Farmhouse elements like white cotton bedding (#7) and wood farmhouse signs (#8) to create this balance.
Bedroom Design #4: Global Mid Century Modern Bedroom
You can go uber modern and sleek (which I didn’t include in this Bedroom Round-Up), but you can also go modern while still being warm and cozy. For this client, we used Mid Century Modern furniture for clean lines, and layered on global elements with fabrics. Adding in super soft bedding and fun artwork brought their personality into the space.
Mid Century Bedroom Makeover
We also added extra comfort to this room with a seating area and a desk that doubles up as a make up table. If you like the Mid Century Modern look-go for clean, simple pieces, wood tones, and a neutral color palette. If you like the “global” element we added on, look for handwoven fabrics or kilim fabrics. We went fairly neutral with this bedroom, but you can also go bold and colorful just as easily!
